The Lumare blemish routine uses clinically validated ingredients - salicylic acid, niacinamide, and lactic acid - at concentrations that clear congestion and regulate oil without compromising the skin barrier that keeps breakouts in check.
Step 1 Cleanse AM & PM
Aloe & Lactic Acid Clarifying Mousse Cleanser
Every effective blemish routine starts with the right cleanse. The lactic acid in this mousse provides a gentle chemical exfoliation at every wash - dissolving excess sebum and surface congestion before it can settle into pores. Aloe vera simultaneously calms the inflammation that makes blemishes red and sore. The mousse texture lathers enough to feel cleansing without being stripping, making it safe for twice-daily use.
Pro tip: Massage for a full 60 seconds - especially around the nose, chin, and jawline where congestion gathers - before rinsing. Contact time matters with active cleansers.
Step 2 Clear PM, 3–5 times per week
Salicylic Acid Clarifying Toner
Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid that is oil-soluble - meaning it can penetrate inside the pore lining itself, not just the surface. Applied after cleansing in the evening, this toner dissolves the debris and oxidised sebum that form blackheads and whiteheads at their source. Begin with three evenings per week and increase as your skin adjusts.
Pro tip: Apply to a cotton pad and use sweeping strokes across the T-zone and blemish-prone areas only. Avoid the eye area and any actively broken skin. Follow immediately with the hydrating gel to prevent any dryness.
Step 3 Hydrate & Regulate AM & PM
Niacinamide (5%) Oil-Control Hydrating Gel
Niacinamide at 5% is one of the most evidence-backed ingredients for breakout prone skin. It regulates sebum production, visibly minimises pore size, reduces the redness around existing blemishes, and - critically - does all of this while keeping skin hydrated and barrier-intact. The lightweight gel texture is non comedogenic and absorbs quickly, making it equally effective under makeup or sunscreen.
Pro tip: This is your moisturiser for this routine - it provides enough hydration for oily and combination skin without adding any heaviness. Use morning and night.
Step 4 Refine Once or twice weekly, PM
Volcanic Sand & Fruit Acid Refining Scrub
Once or twice a week, after cleansing, use this dual-action scrub to perform a deeper clear-out. The volcanic sand provides gentle physical exfoliation while fruit acids dissolve the bonds between dead skin cells - unclogging pores, smoothing texture, and preventing the build-up that leads to future breakouts. Rinse thoroughly and follow with your full PM routine.
Pro tip: Use on damp skin in small, circular motions and rinse with cool water. Never use on actively inflamed or broken blemishes - wait until they've calmed.
What to Expect
In the first two weeks, you'll notice a visible reduction in oiliness and surface congestion. Existing blemishes will begin to clear faster and new ones will appear less frequently. By week six, with consistent use, the overall texture and clarity of the skin
will be noticeably improved.
Patience with breakout routines is essential - skin cell turnover takes approximately 28 days, so full results require at least one full cycle.
